With the debut of their new ending, Carolina Crown wins in Muncie on June 29 with a score of 75.550. They earned first in each of the three captions but lost to The Cavaliers in color guard with a 14.100. The Cavaliers scored a 74.300 overall and 14.500 in color guard, giving them the sub-caption.
Phantom Regiment finished in 3rd with a score just short of the 70-mark, 69.750. They earned 3rd in every sub-caption except for color guard—in which they earned 6th with a 13.000.
With the closest scores of the night, Blue Stars and Crossmen came next in 4th and 5th. The two tied in visual and split the other two captions. Crossmen determined their lead over Blue Stars in the general effect caption while Blue Stars slightly edged them out in music.
Perhaps the most surprising corps of the night was Colts. They were just .65 behind Madison Scouts, who finished in 12th in 2017. Colts placed higher than the Scouts in the visual caption for the night and were only .1 behind in music.
