The Vanguard Cadets have just won the 2017 DCI Open Class World Championship! With a final score of 80.725, SCVC was able to hold off the defending 2016 champion Blue Devils B who finished second. The Vanguard Cadets also swept all of the caption awards from High Brass, Color Guard, Visual, Percussion, and GE. The Blue Devils B scored a 79.625 which was good enough to earn a silver medal. Receiving the bronze medal for the second consecutive year were the Legends with a final score of 77.250. Music City finished the season with a 76.763 and a 4th place finish. The Spartans were 5th scoring a 75.925. Louisiana Stars, Gold, 7th Regiment, Southwind, and the Guardians rounded out the top 10. River City Rhythm and Raiders finished up the Open Class. The Company from Chesterfield, United Kingdom finished the season with a 72.325 and a gold medal for the International Class.
