While the 2018 BOA Powder Springs Regional wasn’t the Super Regional it normally is that doesn’t mean it didn’t generate the same level of excitement Saturday night.
Wando (SC) was able to secure their 2nd regional championship with a final score of 89.450. Wando (SC) also swept the caption awards in finals, won the Class 4A title, and swept caption awards in prelims as well.
Wando’s 2018 show is entitled, "By a Thread" and is inspired by the works of Alexander Calder. After winning the South Carolina Regional earlier in October, the South Carolina powerhouse now sets their sights on Grand Nationals and a trip to Indianapolis in November.
Harrison (GA) finished second with an 87.400. The 2018 BOA Alabama regional champion, also managed to walk away with the Class 3A title and all of the 3A caption awards from prelims.
Kennesaw Mountain (GA) took home the bronze medal from finals with a strong 85.050 showing. Kennesaw is another program who now will make final preparations for Grand Nationals.
After winning the Class 3A Grand National Championships in 2004, 2012, and 2014, Kennesaw will certainly be one of the class 3A favorites heading to Indianapolis.
James F. Byrnes (SC) had another strong showing finishing 4th overall (84.500) while Prospect HS made the long trek from Illinois and came in 5th with an 83.800.
