Weekend Recap: Infinity Win Big in Orlando, Fusion Dazzles In Philly
Infinity took home big wins in Orlando, Fusion dazzled in Philadelphia, and more takeaways from the Feb 24-25 Winter Guard International competitive weekend
We're off to the races with the 2024 Winter Guard International competition season, with many of the activity's favorite groups off to hot starts across the nation. Here's a recap of what you need to know from the February 24-25 weekend:
Philadelphia Color Guard Regional
The Northeast showed out in Pennsylvania this weekend at the one-day Philadelphia Color Guard Regional, featuring four Independent World ensembles. Fusion Winter Guard took home a victory with their stunning 2024 program titled, 'So Fari, So Sweet, So Sharp,' which features playful dance moments throughout and some seriously impressive rifle and sabre work. AMP Winter Guard came in second in the IW class, followed by Black Watch and Light Brigade.
Zooming out to look at the other classes, Main Line Independent nabbed a first-place finish in Independent Open, with Somerville taking home first in Scholastic Open, Westshoremen in Independent A, and Arlington HS (NY) in Scholastic A.

Orlando Percussion/Winds Regional
Switching gears, the Orlando Percussion/Winds Regional gathered some of Florida's best in a head-to-head one-day Regional competition. Infinity came out on top in Independent Marching World, followed by Infinity 2 and STRYKE Percussion. Infinity 3 also had a big win in the Independent Marching Open class, besting Siege Percussion and Newsome HS by a solid margin. Stoneman Douglas HS also took home top honors in Scholastic Marching Open over Sunlake HS and HB Plant HS.
In the Winds discipline, it was a packed house of Independent World Winds groups, with STRYKE Wynds ultimately taking home a victory over Horizon Winds and Legacy.
