RECAP: Blessed Sacrament Wins Big in PA, Rhythm X Dominates in Dayton
There were numerous WGI regionals across the country this past weekend, March 18-19. Here's everything you need to know about their outcomes
The countdown to Dayton is on.
Regional season is picking up its pace, which means it was another jam-packed weekend full of high achievement and even higher scores. Here's a breakdown of how the scoring shook out at each regional.
Percussion & Winds Regionals
Atlanta Percussion & Winds Regional
Atlanta Quest topped the Independent Marching World class with a score of 83.900, overpowering Audio Theater (80.400). In Scholastic Marching World, Dorman HS finished first with a score of 84.300, followed by Milton HS (79.350) and Lambert HS (77.900). Civitas Independent reigned in Independent Marching Open with a score of 86.700, beating silver medalists Mt. Juliet HS by over six points (80.400). In Scholastic Marching Open, Gulfport came in first with an 83.250, narrowly claiming victory over Forsyth Central HS (83.050) and South Forsyth HS (82.300). Alpharetta HS dominated in Scholastic Marching A, claiming first place with a score of 84.150.
And finally, in Scholastic Concert A, Warren East HS (81.350) placed first while Newnan HS (80.000) finished the weekend in second place.
In the Winds category, Evidence Winds from Willian Carey University finished the weekend with a 77.400 in Independent Open Winds, while Sequoyah HS finished first in Scholastic A Winds with a score of 73.950.

Dayton Percussion & Winds Regional
Rhythm X once again took home gold in Independent Marching World with a 92.350, claiming victory over Matrix (87.425), Cap City (87.275), and ConneXus (82.000). Centerville HS was the lone Scholastic Marching World competitor and finished the weekend with a score of 83.750. In Independent Marching Open, Cap City 2 came out on top with a score of 85.950, besting Matrix Open (83.750), Nomad Indoor (80.750), and M3 (80.100). It was a tight race in Scholastic Marching Open, with Kettering Fairmont HS eventually coming out victorious with a score of 88.250, narrowly beating Victor J. Andrew HS (88.025). In Scholastic Marching A, Bellbrook HS joined the 90s club and won the class with a score of 92.250.
In Scholastic Concert Open, Penn-Trafford HS finished the weekend with an 85.800, and West Clermont HS claimed victory in Scholastic Concert A with a score of 82.100.
In the Winds category, newcomer Valhalla Winds (80.950) claimed victory in Independent Open Winds over Chromium Winds (80.500). Miamisburg HS won Scholastic Open Winds with a score of 84.750, Westerville Winds finished the weekend with a 74.350 in Independent A Winds, and Carlisle HS earned a 71.450 in Scholastic A Winds.

Monroe Township Percussion & Winds Regional
George Mason University (90.750) entertained the crowd and earned top placement in Independent Marching World, claiming victory over United Percussion (90.000). Old Bridge HS was the lone Scholastic Marching World competitor and finished the weekend with an 89.250. United Percussion 2 earned gold in Independent Marching Open with a score of 88.000, while Fair Lawn HS breezed past the competition and sat atop the Scholastic Marching Open table with a score of 86.100. In the ever-competitive Scholastic Marching A class, Everett HS came out on top with a score of 89.275, besting Unionville HS (88.700) and Hempfield HS (87.000). Albany Indoor Percussion Ensemble had no competition in Independent Marching A and finished the weekend with a 73.050.
In the Concert class, Monroe Township HS claimed victory in Scholastic Concert A with a score of 82.200.
And finally, in the Winds category, Vortex Indoor Winds set a new program-high record score in Independent A Winds, earning an 81.450.

Minneapolis Percussion & Winds Regional
MBI Indoor Percussion sat atop the table in Independent Marching World after earning an 85.250, claiming victory over River City Rhythm (82.400). Brandon Valley HS competed alone in Scholastic Marching World and earned an 80.550, while Crossroads Percussion finished strong in Independent Marching Open with a score of 84.200. Eden Prairie HS earned an 81.450 in Scholastic Marching Open, Rochester Lourdes Drumline saw victory in Independent Marching A with a score of 74.300, and Irondale Combined Schools muscled its way to first in Scholastic Marching A with a score of 82.150.
In the Winds category, MBI Winds earned a 78.350 in Independent Open Winds, while Elk River Combined Schools finished the weekend with a 75.150 in Scholastic A Winds.

Clayton Winds Regional
Cleveland HS finished the weekend with an 84.800 in Scholastic World Winds, Corinth Holders HS claimed victory in Scholastic Open Winds with a score of 78.700, Eva Independent Winds finished the weekend with a 74.500 in Independent A Winds, and finally North Lincoln HS earned gold in Scholastic A Winds with a score of 82.950.

Guard Regionals
Bethlehem Guard Regional
Blessed Sacrament riffed its way into first (and the 90s club) in Independent World with a score of 93.000, topping Fusion Winter Guard (89.200), AMP Winter Guard (86.000), and more. JMU Nuance dazzled its way to gold in Independent Open with a score of 84.800, while Shenendehowa HS held down Scholastic Open with a score of 85.700. Les Eclipses topped the Independent A class with a score of 85.470, and Salem HS (85.930) finished in first by a narrow margin over Liverpool HS (85.540). In Independent Regional A, Liverpool HS JV soared into first with a 74.050, while Garnet Valley HS claimed gold in Scholastic Regional A with a score of 77.060.

Dallas Guard Regional
Mirage finished the weekend in first in Independent World with a score of 87.500, while Flower Mound HS took home first in Scholastic World with a score of 77.300. Glory Independent breezed past the competition in Independent Open, earning top the top spot in the class with a score of 82.400. Marcus HS won gold in Scholastic Open with a score of 81.800, Eagle Mountain Independent claimed victory in Independent A with a 78.870, and Friendswood HS joined the 90s club and earned a class victory in Scholastic A with a score of 91.050. In Independent Regional A, PC North West Original finished the weekend with a 77.150, while Prosper HS JV claimed first place in Scholastic Regional A with a score of 78.460.

Denver Guard Regional
Malachi was the lone Independent World competitor and finished the weekend with a score of 82.000. Anesidora earned an Independent Open class victory with a score of 82.100, while Air Academy HS claimed gold in Scholastic Open with a score of 79.000. Anesidora A won in Independent A with a score of 81.340, Papillon-La Vista South squeaked out a victory in Scholastic A with a score of 80.620, and Malachi RA won big-time in Independent Regional A with a score of 87.120. Finally, in Scholastic Regional A, it was a battle for first with Roosevelt HS eventually claiming victory with a score of 77.710, besting Papillon-La Vista South HS (77.360), Rock Canyon HS (77.300), and Fountain Fort Carson HS (77.250).

Palm Beach Guard Regional
UCF Pegasus World finished the weekend with a victory in Independent World after earning an 87.400. Stoneman Douglas clawed its way to first place in Scholastic World with a score of 85.000, narrowly beating West Broward HS (84.600). Pegasus Winterguard took home an Independent Open class victory with a score of 87.200, while Somerset Academy finished in first in Scholastic Open with a score of 87.400. Tampa Independent A sat atop the table in the Independent A class with a score of 85.230, while Bartram Trail HS took home gold in Scholastic A with a score of 87.500. Flanagan HS claimed the top spot in Scholastic Regional A with a score of 80.300, while Encorps Evolution finished strong in Independent Regional A with a score of 74.110

San Antonio Guard Regional
There was only one competitor in the Independent World, Scholastic World, and Independent Open classes: with Lake Area Independent (IW) finishing the weekend with a 72.700, Moe and Gene Johnson HS (SW) an 81.800, and ORIGINS Open (IO) an 85.700. Westlake HS claimed victory in Scholastic Open with an 81.700, while UTRGV Winter Guard had a gold-medal run in Independent A and earned a 79.060. In Scholastic A, New Braunfels HS finished atop the table with an 84.650, and Heights HS narrowly escaped with a victory in Scholastic Regional A with a score of 79.770, just beating Southwest HS (79.760).
