This past weekend, Mar 4-5, was full of high achievement and even higher scores. Here's what you need to know about the outcomes of the weekend's regionals
The 2023 WGI season has gotten off to a hot start, and this weekend proved that the heat is coming into March in full force. This past weekend, March 4-5, audiences across the nation saw hundreds of ensembles compete and display high levels of achievement while being rewarded with even higher scores. Here's a breakdown of how the scoring shook out at each regional.
Percussion & Winds Regionals
Indianapolis Percussion & Winds Regional
Standouts from Indy include Rhythm X nearing the 90-point threshold in Independent Marching World with a score of 88.450, alongside Avon HS in Scholastic Marching World with a score of 86.750. Cap City 2 took the gold in Independent Marching Open (80.550), with Victor J. Andrew winning Scholastic Marching Open (84.250), Crystal Lake Thunder in Independent Marching A (73.250), and Noblesville HS (77.650) in Scholastic Marching A.
In the concert class, Penn-Trafford (85.300) came home with the victory in Scholastic Concert A and Fishers HS in Scholastic Concert World (88.300)
The Winds category saw new and returning faces claiming top placements across classes. Elevate Winds claimed first in Independent World (70.650), Avon HS in Scholastic World (85.300), and LSM Winds in 80.250. In the Independent A class, Woodlan HS claimed first with a score of 69.200 while Ben Davis HS was golden in Scholastic A with a score of 80.600.

Richmond Percussion & Winds Regional
GMU was the lone Independent Marching World competitor, but entertained the crowd and earned an 83.150 in Finals. It was a similar story in Scholastic Marching World, with South County HS ending the weekend with a 74.075. Old Line Independent saw gold in Independent Marching Open with a score of 80.000, Clover HS sat atop the table in Scholastic Marching Open with an 83.350, and Chantilly HS clawed out a first-place finish in Scholastic Marching A with a score of 77.200.
In the concert class, Tunstall HS won in Scholastic Concert World (79.000), alongside Grassfield HS in Scholastic Concert Open (77.700), and Clayson HS in Scholastic Concert A (71.800).
Empyrean Winds competed in Independent A Winds and finished the weekend with a score of 65.100.

Katy Percussion & Winds Regional
Monarch Independent claimed gold in Independent Marching World (81.900), Cy-Fair HS dominated Scholastic Marching World (86.000), and Clear Brook HS finished the weekend atop the table in Scholastic Marching Open (88.000). UTSA won Independent Marching Open with a score of 78.250 alongside UTRGV Percussion in Independent Marching A (78.600). Porter HS took home the victory in Scholastic Marching A with a score of 84.200.
In the concert class, Sharyland HS squeaked out a narrow victory over Magnolia HS with a score of 86.200.
In the Winds classes, UTRGV claimed gold in Independent World with a score of 81.400, Spring HS won in Scholastic Open with a score of 80.950, and Edinburg HS fought to win the Scholastic A class with a score of 70.850.

Spartanburg Percussion Regional
Civitas Independent took home the victory in Independent Marching Open (84.500), Dorman HS dominated to win in Scholastic Marching Open (86.700), Trilogy Independent sat atop the table in Independent Marching A (80.600), and Gwinnett County Combined Schools soared ahead of the competition in Scholastic Marching A (85.100).
In the Concert classes, Catawba Ridge won in Scholastic Concert World (83.300) alongside Fort Mill HS in Scholastic Concert A (86.500).

Guard Regionals
Austin Regional
ORIGINS had a big weekend winning both the Independent World (84.500) and Independent Open (81.600) classes. The Woodlands dominated in Scholastic World with a score of 86.000, beating the next competitor by over 10 points. Westlake HS was victorious in Scholastic Open (80.800) alongside Anesidora A (77.130) in Independent A. Pearland HS won a hard-fought battle in Scholastic A with a Finals score of 84.690, while Waller HS finished the weekend atop the table in Scholastic Regional A with as core of 80.300.

Flint Regional
Onyx took home gold in Independent World with a score of 88.200, along with State of Art in Independent Open (76.500). In Independent A, Caledonia Independent won the class with an 80.980, and Reeths-Puffer HS captured first in Scholastic A with a score of 84.250. Rockford HS JV claimed the top spot in Scholastic Regional A with a score of 76.720, and Troy Athens Alias won Independent Regional A with a score of 75.410.

Kiski Area HS claimed the top spot in Scholastic World (79.300), Top Hats won in Independent Open (81.500), and Somerville HS fought for gold in Scholastic Open (76.100). In Independent A, Collage came away victorious with a score of 84.330, while Cumberland Valley HS fought for first in Scholastic A with a Finals score of 83.980. Rangerettes Winter Guard RA won in Independent Regional A with a score of 77.860, while St. Clairsville HS was the victor in Scholastic Regional A with a score of 79.260.

Mirage dazzled in Independent World with a score of 83.500 while The Pride of Missouri dominated in Independent Open with a score of 84.600. Blue Springs HS Open finished top-of-class with a score of 80.600, National Avenue from Missouri State University won Independent A with a score of 79.670, and Aledo HS took home the gold in Scholastic A with a score of 82.750. Finally, Cabot HS claimed gold in Scholastic Regional A with a score of 81.160.
