Good Things Come in Small Packages
In 2016, Bassett (VA) went toe-to-toe with bands 3x their size and never flinched. Now, in 2017, they are back and are just as fierce. Here's a look back at their 2016 show "Good Things Come In Small Packages".
In the world of marching bands, bigger is seemingly always better. More horns, more flags, more drums, more electronics, MORE, MORE, MORE.
But sometimes you find these hidden little nuggets that end up being just as impressive. We found one in the tiny town of Bassett, Virginia. Secluded by gorgeous green hills and a quite little river, Bassett is home to the Bengals of Bassett High School. And packed away in the tiny little band hall is the Bassett Band. All 103 of them. Hear their band director, Trey Harris, talk about the community, band, and their belief that good things come in small packages.
In 2016, they finished 6th at the Winston-Salem regional and went to Grand Nationals. In 2017, they will again be primed to make a run into finals at the North Carolina regional and Grand Nationals.
