The 2018 WGI Percussion World Championship finals was the last time the Buetow brothers of Rhythm X performed together in this activity. With their parents cheering them on in Dayton, Ohio, the brothers and Rhythm X went on to take second place in Independent Open World.

After winning Scholastic Open in 2017, Burleson Centennial HS was bumped up to Scholastic World for the 2018 WGI season. They had one goal going into the season: make it past the break. They not only made it past the break, but they come in 6th overall.
