With the Super Regionals taking place in San Antonio, Indianapolis, and St. Louis, it can be difficult for many of the East coast bands to make the long trip out. The Mid-Atlantic Regional gives fans a chance at catching all of the northeastern bands looking to show off their newest skills on the Bands of America stage.

Returning From 2018

Seven finalists from the 2018 BOA Newark, DE regional will be attending this year's BOA Mid-Atlantic Regional, including the back-to-back Delaware Regional Champion, Norwin (PA). Of the six remaining bands, James Madison (VA) has been in the top 4 spots at the east coast BOA regional since 2014. John P. Stevens is another one of the returners that is in a running for a medal, especially after their second-place finish in 2018.

The full list of bands returning from 2018: Norwin (PA), John P. Stevens (NJ), James Madison (VA), Brick Memorial (NJ), Governor Thomas Johnson (MD), Urbana (MD), Bridgewater Raritan (NJ), South County (VA), Westfield (NJ), Thomas Jefferson (VA), James W. Robinson Secondary (VA), West Orange (NJ), Elizabeth (NJ), Spring-Ford (PA).

Sights & Sounds To Expect

As far as what shows and sounds you might hear this weekend, you'll be able to catch a full spread from contemporary pop to classical, to jazz and music of the theater.

Brick Memorial will be presenting their show which includes the music of Samuel Barber such as "Medea's Dance of Vengeance" and "Symphony No. 1."

Old Bridge (NJ) will be bringing back an old marching arts favorite, "Niagara Falls" by Michael Daugherty, which was brought to the front of the activity when The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps performed it in their 2000 DCI World Championship-winning production "Niagara Falls."

South County's show, "One" will feature a number of pieces which revolve around that singular concept. They'll be bringing "One" by Metallica and, like Brick Memorial, Barber's "Symphony No. 1" to the BOA stage this season.
