Change week has hit and it's time for new endings! We've already heard of Bluecoats bringing out a new ending this week, but we're sure to see a ton more as all of the World Class corps perform in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and some of the best head to the second night in a row with NightBEAT.
Focal Points & Questions
Top 3
- The race in the top 3 continues to tighten with Blue Devils slowly but surely encroaching upon the Bluecoats' undefeated season.
- Bluecoats are one of the corps supposed to have a new ending for this weekend—keep an eye out for that, it could be the first glimpse of what we might see on Finals night.
- Santa Clara Vanguard continues to be about a 0.70-point gap behind the Bluecoats as of Little Rock, AR.
4-6
- The one thing that seems apparent in this grouping is that The Cavaliers are still relatively on an island in scores. In San Antonio, they scored one point behind Boston Crusaders (definitely not out of reach), but are separated significantly from the Blue Knights, behind by nearly 2 full points.
- Boston Crusaders' guard continues to be a highlight for them, as well as their overall visual package. The visual caption paired with a successful night in GE could set them above Carolina Crown. The two were only separated by about .25 in San Antonio.
7-9
- It's a toss-up for Blue Stars, Blue Knights, and Mandarins at this point. Currently, Mandarins trail with the lowest recent score of the 3.
- Blue Stars made a huge jump in score right after San Antonio with a score of 87.35 in Hattiesburg, MS. The Cavaliers, which currently sit in 6th, scored an 88.575 that same night, just in Little Rock.
10-12
- After losing to Blue Knights, Blue Stars, and Mandarins in the past week, The Cadets now sit around the 10th spot overall. Atlanta and NightBEAT will be opportunities to see if The Cadets reclaim a position or not.
- Mandarins' continued improvements before and after San Antonio reveal some good signs for their momentum moving into the next two regional weekends.
On The Bubble
- Scores for Spirit of Atlanta are definitely not as hot on the heels of Phantom Regiment as they were earlier this season, but they still hold the closest chance to making it into the 2019 DCI World Championship finals.
