Factory To Floor: Chapter 1 - Zildjian Factory Tour
Get a closeup view of how the Zildjian Cymbal Co. makes their beloved instruments from putting the raw materials into the furnace to stamping the trademark.
When we first planned this trip, we set out to see the inner workings of a top-tier indoor percussion group and how they ascend to such high performance qualities each year. We landed on Chino Hills—a group that has been dominant in Winter Guard International's Scholastic World Class for years.
Not only did we want to see the process that makes Chino Hills as good as they are, we wanted to see the process behind the equipment being used by the group, and many other groups in the marching arts.
So we picked a manufacturer for each of the most integral parts of the group: Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks/mallets, Remo drumheads, and Creative Costuming & Design for their costumes.
That is what Factory To Floor is. That is how it came to be.
With chapter one, we begin with our first stop on the trip—a tour of the Avedis Zildjian Cymbal Co. manufacturing process with special guests Ian Grom, John Mapes, led by Zildjian's Director of Cymbal Innovation, Paul Francis.
