BOA St. Louis Super Regional This Weekend!

The Indianapolis Super Regional was just a taste of what the end of the 2018 Bands of America season has in store for us fans. From the Midwest to... deeper in the Midwest... more than 70 bands will head to The Dome at America's Center smack dab in the middle of downtown St. Louis—so color guards rejoice.

Watch the 2018 Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional Championship starting LIVE on FloMarching at 9:15 AM CT Friday, October 26.

Anyway, with over 70 bands coming to perform this weekend, it can easily get overwhelming if you don't know what to look for or who to watch—not to mention the 50+ bands competing in the other two BOA regionals ALSO happening this weekend.

Here's everything you need to be looking out for going into this weekend's massive BOA St. Louis Super Regional starting Friday, October 26!

The Basics

Everything will start at a pleasant 9:15 AM CT on Friday with Blue Valley Southwest (KS), so grab your coffee, grab some headphones, and tune in for a full day of preliminary competition!

Friday is filled with local groups from across Missouri with 21 of the 44 bands being from the "Show Me State." Day 1 will conclude with O'Fallon Township—and yes, they're covering the field with a tarp again—so we can all catch a few hours of sleep before this Super Regional continues Super early on a very Super Saturday.

Batavia (IL) will open up Day 2 of prelims at 7:30 AM CT, Saturday. You'll definitely want to tune in that early though because Clovis (NM) will take the field at 8:15 AM CT, Bentonville (AR) at 9:00 AM CT, and Owasso (OK) immediately afterward at 9:15 AM CT—three very strong band programs from some less-represented states in BOA. Of the three, Bentonville (AR) will be attending the 2018 BOA Grand National Championships later this season.

The End Is On The Horizon

Some groups will be pushing into this weekend only as a stepping stone on their route to the 2018 BOA Grand Nationals—and that includes last year's St. Louis Super Regional Champion and BOA Grand National Championship runner-up, Broken Arrow (OK).

Here are some of those groups that you won't want to miss this weekend.

Friday

3:30 PM - Blue Springs (MO)

Blue Springs (MO) is coming off of a top 3 finish at the BOA Indianapolis Super Regional last weekend and after this weekend's Super Regional, they'll be on the road once again back to Lucas Oil.

Blue Springs (MO) earned 2nd in St. Louis in 2017, a bit more than a point behind Broken Arrow (OK).

8:45 PM - Dripping Springs (TX)

We have yet to see Dripping Springs (TX) perform in BOA competition this year, and they're certainly pulling out all of the stops for this weekend's Super Regional. As one of two groups from Texas (Weiss is also making the trip), Dripping has a reputation to uphold against some very good bands that they wouldn't normally compete against.

9:00 PM - O'Fallon Township (IL)

Once again covering the field completely in tarps, O'Fallon Township will be looking for another spot in the top half of finals this weekend to follow up their third-place finish in 2017. Winning or not, O'Fallon Township (IL) is one group that is revolutionizing the way bands approach visual design on a football field.

Saturday

9:00 AM & 9:15 AM - Bentonville (AR) & Owasso (OK)

Owasso (AR), a typical Grand Nationals participant, and Bentonville (AR), one of the most well-known Arkansas band programs that happens to be attending Grand Nationals this year, will help the stadium wake up right before the first break of the day. Both bands are definitely worth a watch if you weren't planning on it already.

10:00 AM - Marian Catholic (IL)

Marian Catholic (IL) is a constant BOA Grand Nationals finalist (finished 11th in 2017) with seven Grand National Championship titles on their resumé from the late 80s and 90s. The group has a long-standing reputation for not only making BOA Grand National finals consistently year after year, but also placing in the top half of finals.

3:15 PM - Broken Arrow (OK)

Broken Arrow. What more is there to say. Their program oozes Americana from performing parade marches to a jazzy breakdown and feature soloists from nearly every section of the winds.

This school has more talent than they know what to do with and will be a top contender moving into this year's 2018 BOA Grand National Championship finals, without a doubt.
