Southern Showdown: 3 Bands To Watch For In Georgia
Southern Showdown: 3 Bands To Watch For In Georgia
Here are the bands to watch for at the 2018 BOA Powder Springs Regional.
A lot of attention may be given to the lone super regional event this weekend in St. Louis, however, one of the most intriguing regionals of the year will be playing out near Atlanta at the 2018 BOA Powder Springs Regional. For several bands, this is the last tune-up performance before their trip to Grand Nationals in November.

Wando (SC) is the top program returning from the 2017 Atlanta Super Regional. They finished 2nd last season in the Mercedes-Benz Dome behind Tarpon Springs (will not be attending). Wando was the 4A class champion in 2017 and are coming off an impressive showing at the 2018 BOA South Carolina Regional in which they captured the overall championship, Class 4A championship, swept caption awards in prelims, and then won Outstanding Music and Outstanding Visual in finals.
Certainly, Wando (SC) will have added more to their show, By A Thread, since we saw them in Gaffney, SC. However, since Wando will be one of the bands traveling to Grand Nationals they may be holding one or two tricks up their sleeve for Indianapolis.
Harrison (GA) is a very intriguing program to keep an eye on. Last year, Harrison was at the Powder Springs regional but did not attend the later season Atlanta Super Regional. However, Harrison was the 2017 Powder Springs Regional overall champion in week 1.
In 2018, Harrison (GA) is proving again they are a top-notch program. They captured the Alabama Regional championship earlier in October and finished 3rd at the Orlando Regional the following weekend. Harrison (GA) won the Class 3A titles in Alabama and Orlando during prelims. And at both of those regionals, they were awarded the Outstanding Music and Outstanding General Effect awards for Class 3A.

Kennesaw Mountain (GA) is having a fantastic fall 2018 season. One of BOA’s historical great programs, Kennesaw Mountain is coming off a 2nd place finish in early October at the Alabama Regional. At the 2017 Atlanta Super Regional, Kennesaw finished 6th overall and won the Class 3A championship.
For a band who is an 8-time Grand National Finalist and Regional Champion, you can be certain Kennesaw Mountain (GA) will have their game faces on Saturday.
