Big Shake Ups Inbound For DFW Area BOA Regional
Big Shake Ups Inbound For DFW Area BOA Regional
It's going to be an incredible weekend of top-tier marching band performances at the 2018 BOA DFW Regional. Don't miss a second of it!
All eyes are on Texas this weekend with two huge Bands of America Regionals on the line that will have some big implications moving forward into the San Antonio Super Regional—and even Grand Nationals implications for one Texas band.
First thing's first though, let's take a look at the finalists that will be returning from last year's Dallas regional:
- Hebron (1st, 86.95)
- Flower Mound (2nd, 86.45)
- L.D. Bell (4th, 84.05)
- Keller (5th, 83.00)
- Keller Central (6th, 80.00)
- Waxahachie (8th, 79.65)
- Wakeland (9th, 79.25)
- Timber Creek (10th, 77.10)
- Coppell (11th, 76.00)
If you recall last year's regional, Flower Mound swept the outstanding performance awards and took first in 4A prelims, but was passed by Hebron in finals by only one-tenth of a point.
If this year is half as exciting as last season's regional, we're already in for a treat.
Thinking Ahead
Each week we get closer to the San Antonio Super Regional, an event whose stature is impossible to overstate—it's a big deal.
This year, more than ever, the battle in the Alamodome is huge as some of the biggest and best Texas bands will be pushing towards the 6A UIL State Championships—days after the BOA show.

Feeling Prosperous
One band, Prosper (TX), will be heading up to Indianapolis for the 2018 Bands of America Grand National Championships this year. The group attended last year and finished in 23rd place at semifinals. This year, they're on a tear through Texas as they attempt to push into Grand National finals.
Although it's a different judging system with different judges, the Prosper band turned heads earlier this season when they topped Marcus (TX) AND Keller (TX) at the HEB Marching Contest prelims. They did get passed by the two bands in finals but held on very tightly, only falling behind Marcus by .75.
It will be interesting to see how Prosper fares against some other very talented Dallas-area bands before we see them go up against the rest of Texas in San Antonio, and the rest of the country in Indianapolis!
