Savannah Light Brings "Impressive Presence" To Troopers
Corps Director Kristy Jackson described her as having "impressive presence that will, if it hasn't already, become very apparent as she takes the podium."
Corps Director Kristy Jackson described her as having "impressive presence that will, if it hasn't already, become very apparent as she takes the podium next summer."
From volunteering to running the metronome and backfield conducting, to taking the main podium for one of America's most historical drum and bugle corps: Savannah Light has certainly found her home at the Troopers.
Savannah Light joined Troopers years ago and has risen through the ranks armed with dedication and determination.
"I really didn’t see my drum corps career going this way."
Initially drawn in by the Troopers' reputation for patriotism, Savannah has "always been the kind of person that loved my freedom and America. It’s no surprise to me that I ended up at Troopers."
Light had her eyes set on the baritone at first, but her penchant for leadership left her wanting for the podium.
"I definitely could have seen myself as a drum major in another corps because I have a huge passion for leadership. But, after my first season with Troopers I knew I wasn’t going anywhere else," she explained.
"...to provide the best opportunity for sustainable success on and off the field."
Kristy Jackson recently moved into the role of Corps Director after many years of involvement throughout the Troopers organization.
One of the first things to come from the organization after the announcement of her role change was the announcement of Light earning the head drum major spot.
"It is my pleasure to share with you the announcement of our new Drum Major. This individual is a proven leader who will maintain the highest standard of excellence, purpose, and presence that has set by those who have previously worn the spurs. -Kristy Jackson, Corps Director pic.twitter.com/2q9cAXsUP8

When asked what makes Light perfect for the drum major position, Jackson responded, "as our backfield conductor for the past two years, she used that opportunity to develop and grow into an exceptional conductor and leader. She has always been very focused on the task at hand and will take on this new challenge with equal enthusiasm and conviction"
"Savannah has an impressive presence that will, if it hasn’t already, become very apparent as she takes the podium next summer," she finished.
