It's been an exciting week for the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps from Austin, TX. As Labor Day came and went, corps started announcing their newest staff additions and changes to be active for the 2019 season. 

In Genesis's case, the corps will be getting a big update to the music design department.

At the head of the design staff will be Josh Gall in the Artistic Director position, who had a prior role as a visual designer in the corps' earlier years. Also on the creative team for 2019 is Key Poulan, Jeff Lee, and Dave Marvin—all in the music caption.

Key Poulan will act as a music supervisor and a contributor to the brass design team. Poulan has held many roles across drum corps at all levels of the activity. Some of his most recent works include his work music arranging for Sacramento Mandarins in 2018.

Jeff Lee joins the percussion/sound design team using his experience from "Blast!", the Blue Devils, Santa Clara Vanguard, and Madison Scouts. Lee has also worked as a sound designer for groups in Winter Guard International, like James Logan (CA), STRYKE Percussion, and RCC.

Dave Marvin also joins the percussion design team for 2019, bringing an entertainment-centric background to the Texas corps. His experience includes directing/arranging for the Denver Broncos Stampede Drumline, and is currently the percussion director for Longmont High School.

Last but definitely not least is the addition of a new brass caption head and assistant caption head. Andy Grindle joins Genesis after a single season as Pioneer's brass caption head. Grindle has taught as an instrumental technician under Tim Snyder and learned "under the guidance of Donnie VanDoren."

Art Cano will be in the Assistant Caption Head position for Genesis after about a decade with the drum corps. According to his biography on the corps' website, Cano has "been instrumental in building the Genesis organization and brass program and is a founding partner in the organization."
