DCI Primed For Atlanta Showdown In New Venue
The DCI Summer Tour makes its way to Atlanta, GA for a full day of World Class competition in the brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium!
The Mercedes-Benz Stadium will welcome all 24 of DCI's World Class corps into its embrace on Saturday, July 28. The stadium can hold over 70,000 fans when being filled to capacity. As one of DCI's most highly attended events, the $1.6 billion stadium has the potential to become a new favorite venue for the DCI Summer Tour.
If you've attended the DCI Southeastern Championships in recent years at the Georgia Dome, it's looking like the warm-up lots will be very near to where the busses usually park, across Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd NW.
After an exciting weekend in Texas and some shake-ups and shake-downs, here are some corps you won't want to miss performing this weekend in Atlanta.
Also don't forget to tune in before the Welcome & National Anthem to catch the FloMarching pre-event studio show, "Taking The Field."
3:20 PM ET - Music City
As the winner of the FloMarching Fan Favorite vote for the DCI Southwestern Championship, you cannot miss Music City perform their 2018 show "Hell On Wheels: The Final Journey of Casey Jones."
From their entrance to their exit, MCDC's first show in World Class is turning out to be a big success with the crowd. The corps also broke 70-points in San Antonio and is on track to finish about 5 placements higher than they did in 2017.
We are also in 19th place!

8:48 PM ET - Boston Crusaders
This corps is easily one of the most improved drum corps of the last decade. It's very easy to relate the Boston Crusaders to fire. Their props are fire. Their shows revolve around fire. The corps is on fire. The color guard especially is on fire.
After a shift to much of the staff, the color guard, in particular, has been undeniable in their recent improvement. The guard earned first place on Saturday in San Antonio against every other World Class corps, while the corps finished in 6th overall—sustaining their 2017 finals position steadily.
Check out a roundtable we did with their entire design staff during the preseason.
9:39 PM ET - The Top Three
If you weren't aware of the struggle towards perfection at the top of the recaps yet, well now's a great time to do some homework. The Blue Devils pulled the early spot in the top three with SCV directly after and Bluecoats finishing out the night. Crown will also take the field a bit earlier in the night (9:05 PM ET)—another group that's very involved in the medal discussion.
Do NOT miss a chance to watch each of these corps attempt to best the other all season long. SCV is putting on one of the strongest seasons drum corps fans have EVER seen. Captions are trading all over the place and it's one of the best years to be a fan of top-tier drum corps.
