Let the hype train begin boarding for WGI 2019. WGI released its full schedule of regional events starting next winter and included a bit of an insight into how the format for WGI World Championships will be changing.

For both weeks, World Championships will start a day earlier in the week. Prelims competition for A Class guards and percussion ensembles will kick off on Wednesday rather than Thursday, and finals for these groups will be on Friday.

WGI Director of Operations Bart Woodley explains, "We intentionally designed the new format so that groups could keep their trips limited to three days if they wish, as their class of competition would complete the process within a three-day span.

“We understand the cost associated with bringing a group to the world championships and made a huge effort not to impact the bottom line for the participants.”
