Must-Watch Guide To Saturday's Innovations In Brass
Don't miss these must-see moments happening on Saturday night at the 2018 Innovations In Brass, streamed only on FloMarching!
Although it's taken many different names over the years, the Drum Corps International show in Akron, Ohio, is a staple on the early drum corps tour for many Midwest corps and its 2018 edition is no exception.
Four corps with at least one DCI World Championship title within the last decade are opening the season at the Innovations In Brass on Saturday, streaming LIVE on FloMarching.
The showcase is being hosted by the Bluecoats, so the Canton corps will headline the night with a 9:56 PM ET time slot.
But, it's what happens before Bluecoats perform that will be the focal point of the night for many fans.
7:50 PM ET - Rhythm IN BLUE
Rhythm IN BLUE is the Bluecoats' alumni corps. If you've ever been to the Akron show, this is the group that's jamming out with some loud, groovy music. The group is made up of some of Bluecoats' best, and since the show is so close to Canton, it's one of the group's biggest events.
8:26 PM ET - Crossmen
Crossmen found themselves in 11th place at the 2017 DCI World Championship finals and seemed to be pretty comfortable making finals in recent seasons.
However, 2018 might be different. Multiple staff members have stated on the record that the corps is reaching for a single-digit finish, to at least ninth or better. Phantom Regiment earned that ninth-place spot in 2017, so it will be interesting to see where the two fall after the scores come in on Saturday night.

8:44 PM ET - The Cadets
After making some switches to their staff and show concept in the offseason, as well as a remapping of their early tour, The Cadets are a corps that will be a wild card in 2018. Despite a seventh-place finish in 2017, The Cadets are no stranger to the medal ceremony at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The last time the corps earned seventh place at finals, it bounced back with a bronze medal the next season, then followed that up with DCI's first three-peat (1983-85).
According to The Cadets' program announcement, the show "follows a trajectory and evolution from disjunction to cohesion, through the synergy of design and performers coming together—from the seemingly unrelated juxtaposition of visual and sound to the exquisite coordination of power and passion.”
