Madison Scouts
Founded in the 1930s, the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps has incorporated a female performer just three times in its storied, 80-year history.
In 2018, there will be a fourth.
Megan Hutera will not only be the first female brass player for the Madison, Wisconsin, corps, but she will also play a major role in the show as a flugelhorn soloist. The Madison Scouts, who have maintained their all-male status for decades, last had a female member in 2005.
Santa Clara Vanguard
A definite contender for fan favorite in 2017, the DCI World Championship silver medalist Santa Clara Vanguard is ready to enter 2018 with its best foot forward. We got a behind-the-scenes look at the 2018 corps and how it plays and works together. Stay tuned for an inside look at SCV 2018.
WGI Temecula
Pulse Percussion came out on top of Independent World in Southern California this weekend with an impressive 90.20 to start out its WGI season. Chino Hills (CA) and Etiwanda (CA) lead the pack in Scholastic World, with Chino Hills (CA) falling just short of the 90-point benchmark (89.60).
WGI South Brunswick
The guards in South Brunswick, New Jersey, did NOT disappoint this weekend. With at least four groups in each of the classes represented except for Scholastic World, these East Coast groups were on the top of their game to make a big statement early in the 2018 WGI season!
Cumberland Valley (PA) earned first in Scholastic A with a score of 84.15 in finals competition. AMP Winter Guard competed in Independent World for the first time this weekend and is walking away very happy with a first-place showing, scoring a 79.90.
