WGI Dayton Regional Set To Blow The Roof Off
It's time for some drums in a gym! The 2018 WGI Percussion season has finally arrived!
Well, the WGI Dayton Regional lineup is certainly going to kick-start the 2018 season in the right way in Dayton, Ohio. The state's southwest region is represented this weekend in groups such as Kings, Bellbrook, and Sycamore in Scholastic A Class.
You can also catch an exciting pull of groups in Independent Open Class such as ConneXus from central Ohio, INov8 from Indiana, and Tates Creek Indoor Ensemble from Lexington, Kentucky.
Here are our picks for some of the must-watch performances scheduled for Saturday's prelims.
1:30 PM ET - Kettering Fairmont (Ohio)
We talked earlier this season with Kettering Fairmont designer Dan Schack about the group's 2018 program. The Scholastic Open group will perform its show, "This Is Water," based on a speech by author David Foster Wallace. You can view the whole speech and get a better idea for the foundation of the design here!
2 PM ET - INov8 Winter Percussion
This is one group you'll definitely want to check out at the Dayton Regional. The group is rumored to be putting eight bass drums on the floor, and that's backed up by the pictures posted on INov8's Facebook page. You can also get a look at the group's 2018 uniforms and floor for its 2018 production, "Time Bomb."
3:30 PM ET - Music City Mystique
Taking the floor at 3:30 PM ET in preliminary competition are the 2017 WGI world champions, Music City Mystique! The group will make its 2018 WGI debut this weekend in Dayton during the middle of the Independent World block of performances. Check out its video teaser for the 2018 program below!
