5 Hidden Gems From WGI Dayton Regional
At every WGI Sport of the Arts contest, there are countless showstopping moments and remarkable performances to digest in real time. So it's understandable that some may go unnoticed in one viewing.

In case you missed any of these hidden gems, we have you covered. Here are five unforgettable moments from the WGI Dayton Percussion/Winds Regional this past weekend.

Tates Creek Indoor Sound Ordinance

On a beautiful weekend in Dayton, Ohio, many groups opted to warm up outside under the sun. That wasn't the case Sunday morning. Due to a noise ordinance by a nearby church, a number of groups were not able to play their battery equipment in the lot until noon. That didn't stop Tate's Creek Indoor. After unloading all of its equipment, the group decided to pull out its drum pads and warm up in its rental truck! But, hey, if it gets the job done that's all that matters!

Rhythm X Winds' Unicycle

It's easy to miss general effects in a show that is constantly moving, and Rhythm X Winds' performance was no exception. If you weren't paying close attention you may have missed the mellophone player who stopped playing and rode a unicycle in a portion of their performance. That's right, folks -- a unicycle!

Front Ensemble in Legacy indoor

There's always that one person you tend to have a greater connection with in the group. In a portion of Legacy Indoor's show, each marimba had two front ensemble members playing intertwined without missing a beat! From rolling off each other's backs to crossing arms and playing 32nd notes, these kids were in sync!

Stairs

We sense a theme this year... and that theme is stairs! From actual staircases to using members of the drumline as human steps, many groups showed they are achieving new heights in 2017. Some of our favorite uses of stairs were seen by Cavaliers Indoor Percussion and Rhythm X Percussion.

Music City Mystique Moving Front Ensemble

It was a surprise to most when Music City Mystique set up their front ensemble in the back of the gym to start their show. It was an even bigger surprise when  their marimbas were unlocked and flew across the gym mid-performance! Music City Mystique managed to succesfully do this not once but four times throughout the show! Did we mention they were PLAYING the marimbas while moving?!
