Remembering The Greatest Tenor Break Of All Time
Recently, world-renowned tenor Bill Bachman posted the picture shown above on his Facebook page. One of the gems we noticed in the image brought back memories of arguably the greatest tenor break of all time: University of North Texas 1996 PASIC.

If you've never seen the break, it comes from the golden era of the PASIC indoor drumline competition. The shows were stripped down in design and were not meant to be anything intellectually challenging by today's standard.

The shows were simple...pit plays, snare break, battery ram, pit feature, tenor break, bass break, jam session, and so on.

And the breaks themselves were straightforward -- fit as many notes as possible into the window given to you by the directors.

So Bill and the rest of the UNT tenor line put together this insanity. Here's a video of their rehearsal of the solo at tempo back in 1996.

Now that you've watched it a dozen times, you can learn the break yourself and play along. We do recommend clearing your schedule, warning the neighbors, and taping your sticks. It is absolutely epic!

Here's Bill breaking the solo down.
