Western Band Association Class 4A-5A Championships Preview
Take a closer look at some of the bands that will be performing at the Western Band Association Championships from Nov. 19-20.
The marching arts scene in California is blowing up as the Western Band Association Championships takes center stage this weekend LIVE from Merced, CA, and Clovis, CA. Bands from all over the West Coast will be competing for their class championships on Saturday, Nov. 19, and then the title of WBA Grand champion on Sunday, Nov. 20. Here's a little preview of the action at the Class 4A-5A Championships at Clovis.
Granite Bay H.S. - 3:30 PM
Returning as the reigning Class 4A champions, the Granite Bay High School. Emerald Brigade will once again be contenders to watch in Clovis. At the 2015 WBA Championships, the Emerald Brigade won Class 4A, all caption awards, and finished tied for fifth overall.
The Homestead High School marching band is a consistent WBA Grand Championship finalist and finished second at the BOA Northern California Regional in 2015. The band was also a 2015 BOA Grand Nationals semifinalist, finishing in 19th place overall. In 2016, Homestead performed at the NFL Experience in San Francisco and performed on Super Bowl Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, in February.
James Logan H.S. - 7 PM
The James Logan band was recognized as the 2014 Western Band Association Grand champion, and the color guard was the 2015 WGI World Class bronze medalist. Additionally, the band also performed at the California All-State Music Education Conference in 2015 and most recently was a featured performer at the WASBE Regional Conference in Prague this past July.
