Will the BOA Regional Trophy Stay in South Texas?
On Saturday, the best bands in South Texas will compete in the Bands of America McAllen Regional. The contest is a part of a triple-header for BOA's opening weekend of contests.

The competition will kick off at 8:15AM with Edinburgh High School opening the preliminary competitions. Prelims will run until scores are announced at 4:45PM, and will be followed by finals at 7:45PM and then awards at 10:45PM.

Last year's champion, Claudia Taylor Johnson High School, will not be competing at this year's event. That will open the door for a new champion to be crowned Saturday night, but that doesn't mean it will be an easy task.

Local favorite and 2015 silver medalist Harlingen High School is slated to perform at 12:30PM; however, two bands making the trip from Austin will provide stiff competition. Perennial BOA powerhouses, James Bowie High School and Lake Travis High School will both make runs to win the day.

James Bowie will perform at 3:15PM, and Lake Travis will go on at 1:30PM. It will be interesting to see if the 280-mile trip that the two Austin bands have to make will affect their performances.

Will the road warriors take home the championship, or will the trophy stay in South Texas? Be sure to watch on Saturday night.
