Night crowd at the Drum Corps International Championship Finals -- paid attendance was 22,200.
Keep in mind, these numbers only represent paid attendance -- that doesn't include the folks who brave 100-plus-degree temperatures to watch the warm-up in the lots outside the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Crowds at finals this year may have dipped slightly due to the weather, but nationwide numbers suggest DCI is growing. Take a look at the paid attendance for the regional events held at the Alamodome and the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
According to DCI.org, more than 330,000 fans packed stadiums across the country during the 2015 campaign. This included a three-day total attendance of 44,132 at finals in Indianapolis.
Just by glancing around, it's easy to see hundreds, if not thousands, of fans milling around outside the venues; as a result, it wouldn't be a reach to add another 10,000 fans to the total summer attendance. Just take a look at the warm-up for Guardians this year at the San Antonio Regional. They performed at 2PM for a robust crowd.
