BOA RECAP: 5 Storylines from the End of October

The 2024 Bands of America season is closing out October with some massive storylines. Here are 5 things you need to know heading into the first competition weekend of November:

1. Avon HS Squeaks Out Victory at Indy Super Regional

The Indianapolis Super Regional is one of the most highly anticipated BOA events of the season, and the 2024 iteration was no different. While Avon HS took home the gold by just a margin of 0.2 over Carmel HS, don't count out the Greyhounds just yet! These two powerhouses always supply a lot of back-and-forth action at BOA Grand Nationals, and it's looking like this year will be a prime example of that.

2. The Golden Regiment Is Golden In St. Louis

One of the biggest upsets that fans may have seen so far this BOA season happened this past weekend at the BOA St. Louis Super Regional, where Blue Springs HS overpowered Broken Arrow HS by a margin of 0.15 points. When zooming in on the Caption Awards, Broken Arrow HS took home the award for Outstanding Music Performance while Blue Springs HS nabbed both Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect.

Friday's Prelims competition will begin at 9:45am CT and Saturday's Prelims continuation will begin at 7:15am CT. Finals will begin around 7:00pm on Saturday following the conclusion of Prelims and an exhibition performance from the Spirit of Houston Marching Band.
