Goodbye, Texas Tour! The DCI 2024 summer tour is officially making its way to the East Coast for the home stretch of the DCI season. After an electric week in Texas followed by a dramatic record-breaking end to the 2024 DCI Southwestern Championship, it's shaping up to be an exciting next few weeks. Next up on the competitive docket: the 2024 DCI Southeastern Championship on July 27 in Atlanta, Georgia. With gates opening in just about 48 hours, here's everything you need to know about the showdown in the Peach State.

1. Competitive Overview

After the Bluecoats smashed the all-time high score achieved at any DCI Southwestern Championship (93.025), the Canton-based ensemble continues on with its season-long winning streak. Though the Bluecoats have put up impressive numbers in both overall score and in the Caption Race, it's still too early to tell what will happen in two weeks at DCI World Championship Prelims in Indianapolis. In case you needed a refresher on scores from San Antonio:

One race outside of the top 5 that deserves highlighting: the race for 12th place and a slot to perform at DCI World Championship Finals on Saturday, August 10th.

Just days after San Antonio, corps headed to DCI Mesquite on July 22nd, and were treated to a very noteworthy tie: Between the Madison Scouts and Crossmen, with both ensembles scoring an 80.800. If we look back at the scores from San Antonio, the Madison Scouts were ahead in the table by the slimmest margin - 0.125 points. 

While only the Crossmen will be performing at the DCI Southeastern Championship, this is a matchup you will definitely want to keep an eye on. Adding to the high-stakes nature of the situation, the Blue Knights are also on the hunt to claim a spot at DCI Finals, with their most recent score propelling them up the table to currently be sitting in 12th place. 

Crossmen and the Madison Scouts will meet again only one more time ahead of DCI World Championship Prelims, at DCI Birmingham on July 26th. 

The last time Crossmen made it to DCI Finals was in 2019 with their show, 'Valkyrie.' 

The last time the Madison Scouts made it to DCI Finals was in 2017 with their show, 'The Last Man Standing.' If the Madison Scouts were to make it to finals this year, it would be the first time the corps has made the top 12 since it became gender-inclusive.

2. The Show Before the Show

One massive event that fans will not want to miss ahead of Saturday's competition is The Masters of the Summer Music Games on July 26th in Murfreesboro, TN. Why is this show so noteworthy? Well, not only are many of the current top ensembles performing at this show, but it's also usually the first show at which fans are treated to new and updated show endings by many of the top corps, like Bluecoats, Carolina Crown, and the Blue Devils.
