#2 From Disaster Comes Magic

Indiana's Goshen High School showed the marching arts community what class and perseverance looks like during its finals performance at the WGI Pittsburgh Color Guard Regional in March. 

In the middle of their first WGI regional finals appearance, the one thing that color guards fear more than anything happened to Goshen's performers. The music stopped playing during their show. 

Immediately, Goshen director Takesha Stoll ran to the sound table to assess the situation, but something magical was happening on the floor. The members kept spinning, performing the show in silence while collectively counting and playing the music in their minds. The crowd inside Norwin High School, filled with spectators and performers from other guards, immediately responded.

Rather than getting quiet and tense, the audience began to encouraging the girls to keep going — cheering at every little move and toss. 

When the sound table was able to fix the music, Stoll had to call out multiple times to her guard to stop so that they could reset to a starting point in the middle of the show. It was like the members of Goshen were in a trance. Once the music started up again, their spellbinding run continued to gain steam. 

By the time the show was finished, most of the performers were in tears, including Stoll, and everyone inside the gymnasium was on their feet.
